Uniball Trophy : Eagles thrash sickly Pumas
Newcastle Eagles progressed into the quarter-finals of this season's uni-ball Trophy with one of the most one-sided victories in recent years, defeating Sutton Pumas 52-121 in Surrey.
The Division one side were never in the game from the early stages, trailing by 18 points after a quarter and they were powerless to stop the Eagles rampage in the second half.
Craig Lynch's side led 33-61 at half time and increased their advantage to 48 points by the end of the third quarter, as Charles Smith fired his way to a game best 26 points.
Ralph Blalock added 23 while for Sutton, Andy Powesland and Alan Hopper had 13 each.
Newcastle can still take top spot in the group - and avoid a last eight pairing with Sheffield - if they can beat manchester on Sunday by four points or more.
