BBL Giants gain sweet revenge to capture North pole
Sheffield Sharks may have had the National Cup in the trophy cabinet at Sheffield Arena but Manchester Giants snatched away the Yorkshiremen's four-month leadership of the Northern Conference, grabbing a 72-93 victory which went some way to exorcising the visitors' demons.
With the duo squaring up again next Saturday in the semi-final of the uni-ball Trophy, Giants second win in two Championship meetings between the rivals this season could have scarcely been better timed.
Tony Dorsey had a game-high 27 points with team-mate Phil Handy adding 21 as Nick Nurse's team built a 33-45 half-time lead.
Sheffield cut the gap to 65-60 with 5:59 left via a three-pointer from Terrell Myers but as Sharks were forced to foul, Giants held steady from the strip, making 14 of their last 16 points in that manner.
