BBL Pero trey kills off Sharks run
Westfield Sharks Sheffield's 19 game unbeaten streak finally came to a close at the hands of Chester Jets who escaped Sheffield Arena with a 86-87 victory to give coach Robbie Peers the best possible Christmas present.
And the hero was captain Pero Cameron whose three-pointer in the final ten seconds of play capped his side's fightback from 21 points down to overcome the Northern Conference leaders.
The finish mirrored the end of the pair's last meeting 10 days ago when it was Sharks who retrieved a huge deficit to snatch a dramatic victory. Jets 2-20 finish stunned Chris Finch's side who lost their first contest since their opening day reverse to Manchester.
Sheffield led for almost the entire match and were ahead 45-37 at half time before blasting out to what looked like a terminal lead. But Jets rallied to come back within five poinst at the end of the third quarter but had to wait until Cameron's late blast to take the advantage.
The home side, who were led by 24 points from Terrell Myers, had a final chance to win the game from an inbound play with 1 second left but Wil Johnson was unable to get a clear shot at the net, sparking Chester's celebrations.
Greg Francis topped the victor's scoring on 26 points and his side's win moves them to .500 and into the play-off spots for the first time this season.
