Sharp shooting Sharks through to semis

Holders Westfield Sharks Sheffield booked their place in the Sainsbury's Classic Cola National Cup semi-finals with an 89-75 win over Brighton Bears in the quarter-finals.

This was the Sharks third win in recent weeks over the luckless Bears, although it was Brighton who got off to the best start. They enjoyed a 4-15 run in the early stages before a Sheffield comeback, which saw them 50-37 up at half time.

The Sharks went on to lead by as many as 25 points in the second half as Iain McKinney and Terrell Myers found their range from three-point land before some similar accuracy from Lormont Sharp brought Bears back to some respectability.

"I'm very pleased," said winning coach Chris Finch. "We had a great lift off our bench when we needed it most, especially from Iain and Richard Windle, who I though had his best ever game for us."

Myers netted 18 points for the Sharks, while Jon Gaines led all scorers with 30 points.
