Saporta Cup: Towers crash to Swedes
Haribo London Towers chances of reaching the last 32 round of the Saporta Cup look slim indeed after the capital side fell to their third straight defeat in the competition, losing 72-65 to Plannja Basket in Lulea, Sweden.
Towers looked the stronger side in the opening exchanges, their rebounding playing a key role as they led 38-41 at half time.
However, with approximately four minutes remaining, five straight points from Plannja star Larsson stole the lead from Towers and they never recovered, despite Danny Lewis racking up 19 points..
However Aulander was top scorer for the Swedes with 21, while Malcolm Leak (17) and Steve Bucknall (14) added to Lewis' tally.
Aalst of Belgium remain joint bottom of Group G with Towers after they lost 60-71 at home to Croatia Split.
Turkish side Darussafaka took outright leadership in the battle of the hitherto unbeaten sides with a close 82-87 victory over Adecco Milan in Italy.
