Saporta Cup: Towers fall to strong Milan finish
Haribo London Towers fell to their second defeat in two starts in this year's Saporta Cup, losing 56-77 to Adecco Olimpic Milan at Crystal Palace, leaving Ron Abegglen's side bottom of Group G.
The capital side nearly pulled off a major comeback in the third quarter by turning a 13 point half time time deficit around to trail by just two points with four minutes remaining.
However the three-time European champions stepped up a gear to close out with a 4-23 spurt to deny the sole remaining British representative in Europe their first points in the competition.
Sidney Johnson led Milan with 22 points which included six three point scorers while Steve Bucknall's 15 point tally led the Londoners.
Next week Towers travel to Sweden to take on Plannja who defeated Aalst 68-81 in Belgium on Tuesday night.
In the Group's other contest, Darussafaka Istanbul held off BC Split for a thrilling 75-76 victory in Croatia which keeps the Turks unbeaten.
