Tigers add to Eagles misery
Newcastle Eagles weekend of woe was extended still further as the Geordies fell 84-95 at home to Thames valley in the Championship.
The Tigers broke open a tense game with a 3-11 start to the final stanza giving them a 67-77 lead with just seven minutes remaining after the hosts had led 47-44 at half time.
Tigers centre Jason Siemon netted half of the final period’s first 14 points as the Tigers opened up a ten point advantage. Earlier the two sides had swapped leads on 13 occasions as they battled for control of the game.
Eagles summer signing Charles Smith led the way with 23 points in game that saw no fewer than nine players in double figures.
Casey Arena racked up 20 points for Thames Valley who lie second in the Southern Conference.
