BBL Towers top out year on Tyne
A 78-91 victory away to the Newcastle Eagles saw London Towers move up into second in the Dairylea Dunkers Championship Southern Conference, overtaking future Trophy semi-final opponents Thames Valley for the first time this season.
A 4-15 tear in the opening period saw the visitors nullify a good start for the Eagles and they extended their 20-23 first quarter lead in the second and third periods.
Some spectacular dunks from Towers top scorer Donnie Johnson, who ended on 23 points down the stretch sealed the victory as the capital side maintained their 13 points cushion during the final quarter's play.
Eagles' Ralph Blalock led all scorers with 25 points, but it was not enough to save his injury and illness blighted team from crashing to their fourth straight loss. Danny Lewis added 21 for Towers.
