BBL Eagles lose tenth straight to Leopards
Despite a much publicised group therapy session in mid-week, Newcastle Eagles just can't shake that losing feeling. Ten reverses in a row and now the Tyneside outfit have replaced Leicester Riders as the holder of the worst record in the Championship.
Craig Lynch's men suffered their latest setback with a 86-101 defeat to London Leopards at the Telewest Arena on Friday night, giving up 20 points in a row in the first half to the visitors.
Leopards game winning run straddled the first and second quarters, and took the scoreline from a 19-23 deficit to a 23-39 scoreline in their favour. Although Eagles cut the gap to eight points at half-time, Bob Donewald's side pulled clear again and there was no route to home salvation.
Jason Kimbrough, who netted the first nine points of that massive sequence, finished as the game's leading scorer with 25. Charles Smith led the Eagles' efforts with 22 points.
