BBL Mavis fires Eagles to win over Brighton
The North took the honours - if there were prizes for being last - in the battle of the lowest placed sides in the Championship's opposing Conferences, as Newcastle defeated Brighton 101-77 at Telewest Arena.
All 10 of the Eagles’ roster got on the scoresheet with Canadian international, Andrew Mavis in devastating long-range shooting form, landing seven three-pointers and a three-point play to complete his 24 point personal tally.
Four of Mavis’ three-pointers came in a 12-4 second quarter burst which put the home side 53-27 ahead and after leading 63-33 at the interval, Craig Lynch's side never looked back.
Jon Gaines matched the game-high tally with 24 points of his own but his side remain one game behind fifth placed Leopards in the Southern wooden spoon fight.
