Lions keep Eagles in check

Milton Keynes Lions made it five wins in seven games with an 89-73 success over the Newcastle Eagles, condemning the Tynesiders to a ninth straight reverse.

Kelvin Robinson stole the show with a game-high 25 points in a game which the hometown Lions took control of in the second half. The visiting Eagles were kept to just ten points in the third quarter, following a close first half which ended 47-49 in their favour
.
Indeed, Eagles' top scorer, Charles Smith, was kept to just six second half points on the way to his 19-point total. An 8-2 Lions run at the start of the final quarter put the Lions comfortably ahead at 75-61 and when they restricted Newcastle to just three field goals in eight minutes in that period, the result was safe.
