BBL Giants shake off Sharks in OT
12 months ago this fixture - and the title came down to a final second winning shot from Sheffield's Terrell Myers. There were no such high stakes to play for at MEN Arena on Saturday night but there was tension in abundance.
In the end, Manchester Giants held off Sharks 104-93 in overtime to complete their regular season with a franchise-best 31-5 record.
After trailing for most of the encounter of what could easily be a rehearsal for the Wembley final on May 6, the hosts rallied back in the fourth quarter to level the match before forcing the visitors to hit a late three pointer to send the contest into overtime at 85-85.
Led by a game-high 28 points from Tony Dorsey, Giants - who were without suspended guard Phil Handy - out-scored their opponents 19-8 in the extra five minutes to close out the match.
Myers could not pull off any heroics this time but scored 27 points as Sharks head for a play-off pairing with Birmingham Bullets.
