Dorsey inspires Giants to continue Trophy defence

uni-ball Trophy holders Manchester Giants will continue the defence of their crown when the competition resumes at the last four stage on January 22, but Nick Nurse's side were made to fight all the way before squeezing past Chester Jets 83-82.

Chester held a 13 points third quarter lead but saw their neighbours come right back in the final quarter through some inspired play by Tony Dorsey.

The American notched eight of his team leading 20 points in a 10-0 Giants run in the final period which re-opened the contest.

And when Dorsey hit a three pointer with 19 seconds left, it left Chester to rue the two missed free throws moments earlier from Dave Gardner which eventually proved fatal and not even a game-high 22 points from fit-again Kyle Ivey-Jones could save their day.

Phil Handy and Roy Hairston added 19 and 18 respectively for Manchester who will take on Sheffield at the last four stage.
