BBL Giants get winning boost ahead of final
Manchester Giants received the best possible booster ahead of Sunday's National Cup Final, securing their seventh straight victory with a 82-76 defeat of Chester Jets at MEN Arena.
The Giants, who led 36-27 at half-time despite some inaccurate three-point shooting, were just too powerful for the visitors who fought hard to stay in contention.
Chester kept in touch - particularly after an 0-8 tear to open the final period. however, with the score at 59-55 to the Giants, the home side responded with a 10-3 run to pull ahead again.Later, a three-pointer from Pero Cameron brought Jets to within two points of their hosts with just 14 seconds remaining before a pair of free throws each from Tony Dorsey and Tony Holley made the game safe.
Dorsey and team-mate Roy Hairston notched 23 points apiece, a tally bettered only by Chester's James Hamilton who hit 27.
