BBL Burks condemns Leopards to play-off exile
It was the cruellest of ironies. Eric Burks, the architect of so much of London Leopards success over the last decade, ensured that his former club will miss the post season for the first time in their brief history this year with a 30 point blast which secured top four place for Milton Keynes instead.
The Lions 80-84 win at Brentwood finally ended the franchise's eight year wait for a trip into the playoffs.
Lions trailed 22-9 after ten minutes but Burks was in sparkling form and the vistors were in front 33-37 by the break. Rashod Johnson, who led the hosts on 26, had a chance to tie the game with a three-pointer 5 seconds from the end but he failed to convert it and left Leopards' season in ruins.
