Leopards kill off Giants unbroken run
The last remaining unbeaten start to this season was ended on Sunday as adidas London Leopards pulled off a comprehensive 108-89 victory over Manchester Giants.
Leopards guard Kenya Capers was in irresistible form against the Northern Conference leaders, racking up a game high 36 points including 15 points in the final quarter to keep the visitors at arms length.
The two sides were tied after the first quarter at 29-29, before the Giants took the lead - 53-56 at the half. But Leopards had 6-0 and 10-2 runs in the third quarter to take the lead and in the final period enjoyed a double figure lead throughout. Capers had 15 points in the final quarter alone, as the home-side closed out the game with a 14-5 tear to win.
Billy Mims' side had Larry Johnson on 24 points and Robert Youngblood on 20 in full support.
Tony Dorsey led the Giants with 27 points while England international Ray Carter bagged 19 points with all but two coming in the first half.
