McCord blitz helps Rocks off to a win
An impressive 30 points tally from Edinburgh Rocks' major summer acquisition John McCord helped his new team to do what it took them 12 games to do last season - get a first win. This time it came on the opening night of the Dairylea Dunkers Championship campaign courtesy of a 83-102 result over Renault Leicester Riders at Granby Halls.
The Scots signalled their intentions early on in this Northern Conference match up, taking a 22-30 first quarter lead. The advantage remained fairly consistent until the end of the third, when Jim Brandon's side pulled into a 16 point lead from which their hosts could not rebound.
Ted Berry added 21 for Edinburgh with Michael New on 18 while Leicester were led by 21 points from newcomer Tony Moore.
