Limoges lift Korac Cup
Despite losing the second leg of their Korac Cup final on Wednesday night, French giants Limoges once again lifted a European prize by overcoming Unicaja Malaga 60-51, coasting home on the back of their easy 80-58 first leg win in France.
The Frenchmen, European champions in 1993, nearly went out of existence just weeks ago after a series of financial problems and mis-doings left the club on shaky ground. But success on the continental stage will do much to restore their place in the game, the 131-118 aggregate score as convincing as it was deserved.
In the first leg of the women's Ronchetti Cup final, holders Sandra Gran Canaria gave themselves a great chance of retaining the title after losing out just 64-60 to Parma in the first leg in Italy. Rosaura Sanchez hit a game-high 22 points for the Spaniards who had only four players on the scoresheet.
