Limerick enjoyed the advantage early on leading 14-8 and were 16-11 in front at the end of the first quarter with American S Winston and Lewis leading the way. The introduction of John Teahan swung it Kerry Springs way as Robbie Turner and Vince Daly knocked down some big three-pointers while Terry Smith and John Teahan excelled on defence to give Kerry Spring a 34-30 lead at half-time. It was an evenly contested third quarter with KSW leading 48-47 entering the last ten minutes. Turner went on a scoring spree to push the Killarney side 57-50 in front and then Kareem Lewis fouled out with 6:37 remaining. Smith Daly and Turner extended Kerry Springs lead to 15 points and they ran out easy winners in the end. The loss of Lewis was a huge blow to Limerick but KSW always had a slight edge with Terry Smith dominating the boards and drawing the big fouls from Lewis.

Sligo chased the game from the outset. They got to within 3 points mid-way through the third quarter but a controversial call from referee Mary Whelan against Chris Doyal effectively killed off Sligo's fight-back.

Waterford started out great and went into the lead straight away. They were 12 points up going into the third quarter. Tolka then pulled back with great shooting from Joey Hastrip and managed to win the half by a point.

In the second half it was fairly tight with the teams scoring basket for basket. Tolka managed to pull away slightly and going into the fourth quarter they were 3 up. Both teams fought hard and with 2 minutes on the clock Waterford were up by 5 points. At this point Kareem porter missed his free throws. Lennie McMillan scored a two pointer. Haffner was fouled and scored both his free throws.  Michael Quill was fouled with one second on the clock. He was on the line for two shots with the score at 73-72 to Crystal. He scored both his shots to win the game. A hugely exciting game overall with both teams playing excellent basketball.

Kerry Spring Water   74(45)   83(47) Clare Jets

Kerry Spring went ahead at the beginning of the game with the score at 14-9. Clare Jets came back with a vengeance and at the end of the first quarter the score stood at 30-21 to Clare Jets. Clare Jets continued on their roll in the second quarter with great shooting from Pieper and Ayanbadjejo. Kerry Springs then changed tactics putting John Teahan marking Pieper. Teahan did great work in this role. Shane Horgan showed great skill from outside the 3-point line, as did Robbie Turner who got a 3-pointer on the buzzer of half time. All these combined Kerry had managed to bring the score to within 2 points of the leaders. However Jets cut off their comeback in the second half and at the end of the third quarter the Jets were again well in front at 70-57. Spring fought back and with two and a half minutes left the score was 78-72 in favour of Jets. However Pieper and Ayanbadjejo were too much for Spring and Jets continued on for a 9 point victory.
