This was a close match at the start with
Denny leading by 18-12 in the first quarter. Denny then pulled away dramatically
to bring the score to 39-13. Crystal did come back but they never completely
recovered. Denny won convincingly in the end.

As the score would suggest this was over
long before the final whistle. Neptune played with the intensity and resolve
that seized the first two games of the season. Rasuel McKune was exceptional
leading all players on 29 points. Dungannon could never get going. Captain
Trevor Smullen led his side with an eighteen-point game, followed by Brad
Wedel on 15. The good news for Neptune is that they will travel to Waterford
with a fully fit team.

Tolka Rovers 81(37) 83(45)
Esat Telecom Demons
Demons owe their close 81-83 victory to
Spanish player Hernandez after a tense and exiting clash against Tolka
Rovers. Demons were missing American Joseph McKenny who had a flue virus
and Lenny McMillan returned to Tolka Rovers after a recent hernia operation.
Demons led 22-20 at end of first quarter despite some excellent rebounding
by Haastrup for Tolka who dominated under the boards. Demons pulled ahead
28-22 with 4 minutes gone in the second quarter but Lenny McMillan tied
the game at 30 a piece with 5 minutes to go in the first half. But two
3 pointers from Brian Clernon and 2 free throws after the half time buzzer
from Tim O' Haleran put Demons ahead 45-47 at the break. Demons scored
three 3 pointers in the first 4 minutes of the second half to lead by 56-41and
the points seemed certain for the cork side but paddy Boylan came to life
for Tolka and brought the home side back into the game, trailing by just
3 points 60-63 going into the final quarter. McMillan made it 62-64 and
then Thweet missed a chance to level the game from the free throw line
with 2 minutes gone. He then had a lovely steal under Demons basket but
missed the layup at the other end. The sides were basket for basket and
with 5 minutes remaining Demons led by 68-67. Eoin Quill enjoyed a slam-dunk
and drew the foul but he failed to convert from the free throw line leaving
Tolka still 1 point behind with 3 minutes to go. Then Lenny McMillan got
into a scrammble on the half way line with Hernandez, a jump ball was called
initially but changed to an intentional foul on McMillan, his 5th foul
which meant he left the game. Hernandez scored a big 3 pointer with 1 minute
50 on the clock to put Demons ahead 76-71 but Boylan replied with a 3 pointer
to make it 74-77 with 1 minute to go. Both sides missed some easy chances
and with 17 sec a 3 pointer from Boylan kept Tolkas hopes alive to make
it 78-80. Tolka were forced to foul to stop the clock and Demons scored
3 of 4 to make it 78-83 with 2 sec remaining and Eoin Quills 3 pointer
on the buzzer was a poor consolation for Tolka who despite another excellent
performance are still chasing their first win.

Burgerking got into the lead and never
relinquished it. They played on steadily for a convincing win over Sligo.
Sligo's frustration was evident throughout the game with J Womack and M
Murphy both receiving technical fouls. O'Marra and Murphy also both received
intentional fouls.
Waterford Crystal 52(31) 51(26)Neptune
Patterson 22 Rusuel
McKune 24
Dean Kavanagh 11 Stephen
McCarthy 13
Careen Porter 7 Ricardo
Leonard 5
A great game as can be said from the score.
Crystal had a good first half, leading Neptune all the way. Ricardo Leonard
went off injured in the second quarter at which stage Crystal was leading
20-16. It all looked bad for Neptune. However they were down but not out.
They made a great come back in the second half and at the end of the third
quarter they had snatched the lead from Crystal and were ahead by 42-37.
Neptune led by 4 points with 30 seconds to go. Dean Kavanagh scored for
Crystal. Then Careen Porter made a steal; he went up for the shot and drew
the foul. He was on the line with 4 seconds to go. He made the first shot
but missed the second. There was a big scramble for the rebound and after
about four taps on the ball, Patterson led it through the net just as the
buzzer sounded. The place erupted. Great ending for Crystal. Poor Neptune
put up a brave fight.

Eric Blair 20
Robbie Turner 15
Ciaran Dempsey 17 Terry
Smith 12
Anthony Jenkins 12 John
Teahan 10
Denny opened the brighter of these two
teams, who both had good victories on Saturday night. Brian Benjamin, Denny's
Dutch international hit two early 3 pointers and Ciaran Dempsey ran in
10 points on the break to give Denny a commanding 24-12 lead at the end
of the 1st quarter. Robbie Turner and Terry Smith were held to two points
each in the second quarter a Denny took complete control.
Denny maintained their concentration throughout
the 3rd quarter with Ciaran McEvilly netting 6 points and any chance Killarney
had to get back in the game ended when Terry Smith went off in injured
at the end of the quarter. Then it was show time with both teams running
their bench players and Eric Blair finishing off with some spectacular
dunks. At the end a comfortable win for Denny by 80 points to 56.
