Welsh win Battle of Celts

Wales gained their first victory at the European Promotions Cup in Andorra, along with home nation bragging rights, by defeating Scotland 66-58 on the second day of competition.

The Welsh, surprising losers to San Marino on Tuesday, trailed 39-33 after a see-saw first half but pursued their northern rivals to level matters with five minutes gone in the second stanza.

However Wales - who were without Birmingham's Lee Walker - benefitted from their prowess from the foul line which took them clear in a tight finish, leaving both sides on an identical 1-1 record.

Edinburgh Rocks Campbell Flockhart and Stuart Mackay hit 16 and 15 points respectively, the latter adding 11 rebounds.

San Marino enjoyed a convincing 74-55 win over Malta while hosts Andorra top the table after a 82-59 win over Gibraltar, Antonio Jimenez Mulet notching 27points and 25 rebounds in 35 minutes.
