Euro League for Men 1999-2000

The first phase of the 2000 Euro League for men has been completed and Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos narrowly failed to remain undefeated, losing 70-72 at home to German giants Alba Berlin in their last game.

The Greeks 9-1 record was matched by Barcelona while Villeurbane of France were the surprise victors of Group C ahead of Olympiakos, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Varese.

Efes Pilsen Istanbul came out on top on a three way points tie in Group D, beating out Wennington Bologna and Cibona Zagreb on head to head difference after the trio gained identical 6-4 records.

All the teams now progress to the second phase in the New Year where Group E looks to be the pool of death, including Barcelona, Treviso, Berlin and ailing defending champions Zalgiris Kaunas.
