Sharks shoot Rocks lights out

Edinburgh Rocks coach Jim Brandon was fulsome in his praise for his team despite their 111-98 loss to Sheffield Sharks at Meadowbank yesterday. Coming just 24 hours after the Scots had pulled off an ultra-impressive victory on the road over Newcastle Eagles, Brandon's men missed a chance to gain what would have been a major leg up in their quest for a Northern Conference play-off spot.

Perhaps fatigue played a part but the Yorkshiremen's shooting was without equal, their total of 15 baskets from outside the three-point arc a testament to their abilities. A Rocks side without injured centre Brendan Graves matched their guests for long periods, fading only in the third quarter when ten Sheffield points without reply put them 84-71 in front and beyond Edinburgh's reach. Sharks' Terrell Myers helped himself to 34 points while Ted Berry with 21 and John McCord and Iain Maclean both on 20 led the reposte.

"I though we were going to win but they hurt us with their shooting," said Brandon. "I think we just came out sluggish in the second half but we have to string together some back to back wins in the next few weeks."
