BBL Derby overcome low-flying Eagles
Derby Storm secured their 16th win of their Dairylea Dunkers Championship campaign with a 107-93 victory over Newcastle Eagles at the Thunderdome.
The hosts put up a strong bid for best offensive display of the weekend, topping 50 points in the opening 14 minutes and went on to lead 64-55 at half time. This came after a strong opening two minutes from the visitors, who led 9-4 in the first quarter. Derby roared ahead with a 17-2 tear and although Eagles rallied with a 3-11 run in the third period, they were already too far behind.
Derby' s Darrian Evans and Eagles' Charles Smith shared the top scorers accolade, each bagging 26 points.
