BBL Dorsey supreme as Giants slip Storm
35 points from All Star Tony Dorsey helped Manchester Giants to extend their lead at the top of the Northern Conference to six points ahead of Westfield Sharks Sheffield with this 90-93 victory away to third-placed Derby Storm.
It was a close game throughout, but a 2-9 burst by the visitors in the final quarter put the Giants 78-86 ahead and made certain of the result. Nick Nurse's men had previously opened the final period with six unanswered points to lead by five points at 70-75 and the closest that Derby got was at 76-77 with five minutes remaining.
The hosts had led for long periods prior to that and led 47-39 midway through the second period. That was followed by a technical foul for Giants' coach Nick Nurse for dissent. Roy Hairston with 29 assisted Manchester's cause further, while Kip Stone and BJ Bunton led the Derby attack with 24 points apiece.
