Storm blow out Rocks at finish

Edinburgh Rocks missed the chance to move up to second place in the Northern Conference last night after losing 71-68 to Derby Storm at the Thunderdome.

The Storm's second win in three meetings between the rivals this season was sealed only in the final two minutes when the hosts snapped a 66-66 tie with four straight points to take an ultimately decisive advantage.

Derby coach Martin Ford pulled on his vest for a rare playing appearance in place of the injured Ray Schultz and led his team back from a single point deficit after the first quarter.

The visitors led for most of the subsequent twenty minutes before being overhauled at the finish.

Darrian Evans of the Storm and Rocks captain Michael New led the scoring on 19 points.
