Storm draw level at North pole
It took six lead changes in the final quarter to determine the outcome of this closely-fought encounter - but Derby Storm came through 83-78 at the Thunderdome to make it five wins from six in the Dairylea Dunkers Championship, a result which puts them level with Sheffield at the top of the Northern Conference.
Derby led 11-5 after five minutes, and again led early on in the second, but Brighton finished each of the first two quarters the stronger, including a 19-8 run up to half-time.
Brighton then led 36-47 after 2:30 of the third but Derby responded with an 8-0 run to edge into a 52-50 lead. Derby saw John Tresvant foul out 30 seconds into the final quarter and just two minutes were left when, with the teams level at 76-76, Derby produced a 7-2 run with baskets from Darrian Evans, Chris Fite (3 pointer) and Kip Stone to close out.
Charles Claxton and Lormont Sharp led all scorers for Brighton on 20, while Evans and Cypheus Bunton hit 19 apiece for Derby.
