Jets so Pero-fect for first win
Chester Jets finally obtained their first victory of the new campaign at the sixth attempt, delighting the Northgate Arena fans with a 92-82 defeat of enjoyed a great day, with their first win of the millennium season of Thames Valley Tigers in the Dairylea Dunkers Championship.
Tigers who led 37-40 at half time after a close first half, but the Jets responded in maginificent style early in the second half, puliing 14 points clear at the close of the third period to effectively close off the contest.
Tigers Greg Meldrum hit 21 points for the visitors against his former club, while New Zealander Pero Cameron - recently returned from representing his country in the Olympic Qualification - bagged a game-high 27 points for the victors.
Jets coach Robbie Peers was delighted.
"We started the season falling short, but only just - we needed to just turn it up a notch to win. We turned it up a notch tonight - and we won, " he said.
