BBL Riders squeeze win from tight Jets battle
Renault Leicester Riders snapped a three-game championship losing streak - and extended Chester's championship losing streak to four - with the closest of victories on the road, winning 86-89 at Northgate Arena.
Just a handful of points separated the two sides throughout, with the second and third periods scoring absolutely even. A Kevin St Kitts three-pointer closed Chester's lead to 76-72, before team-mate Kevin Gilroy fouled out with 4:45 of the match after scoring 16 points.
A Karl Brown three-pointer soon after took his team-high tally to 21 and edged the Riders 82-83 ahead with 2:00 to go before Jets' James Hamilton joined Gilroy in fouling out with 10 seconds remaining.
Two free-throws from Purnell Perry put the Riders 86-87 ahead and when Jets' Terrence Lewis was called for a charge after the restart, Troy Coleman was able to confirm the narrowest of victories with two points from the line.
Greg Francis led all scorers with 27, team-mate Pero Cameron adding 25.
