BBL Jets shake up play-off hunt with Rocks slaying
Chester Jets did their play-off hopes the power of good at the expense of chief rivals Edinburgh Rocks on Sunday night, winning 84-67 at Northgate Arena. The result leaves the pair level in fourth place in the Northern Conference of the Dairylea Dunkers Championship.
Chester’s game plan nullified their guests’ strength with great efficiency and protected the lead that they had held from the opening score of the second quarter through to the final buzzer.
After bursting clear with a 13-2 spurt midway through the first half, Jets' advantage initially peaked at 43-27 on half-time. While John McCord, who scored a team-high 22 points, tried to spark a Rocks revival, the home defence stood firm and allowed the visitors to get no closer than nine before pulling clear in the final moments, with James Hamilton scoring 29 for the Jets.
