Fired up Bears hammer Tigers
Brighton Bears pulled off their biggest victory for over five seasons on home turf as the rampaging Sussex side handed Thames Valley Tigers a 101-67 mauling at the Brighton Centre, despite playing without leading marksman Jon Gaines.
The Bears go off to an astonishing 20-2 start over their local rivals and were never seriously threatened later in the contest.
From then on the Bears never really looked back and never lost a quarter. The Bears made 13 of their 22 three-point attempts, thanks mainly to the 7-for-11 Lormont Sharp and 5-for-8 Michael Brown. Charles Claxton and Jan Trojanowski both notched up double-doubles in points and rebounds and Brown was just an assist away from a similar statistical performance.
Tigers woe was sealed as forward Billy Singleton was their sole player in double figures as the ex-Leicester and Queen's man hit a game best 23. But it was Bears burgeoning guard tandem who did most damage Larmont Sharp on 23, and Michael Brown on 21 leading the way.
