BBL Towers stunned by buoyant Bears
Shock of the season ? Bottom beat top in the Dairylea Dunkers Championship Southern Conference as the Driver Brighton Bears defeated the
Haribo London Towers 81-76 on the south coast, the first time the hosts had taken back to back victories since October.Both sides enjoyed leads as the game see-sawed throughout, Brighton leading 23-16 after the first quarter before Towers rebounded for a 38-41 advantage at half-time with Danny Lewis well on his way to game-high 27 points tally.
But Mark Dunning's side built up a six point cushion entering the final quarter a lead which the visitors had nullified when they levelled matters at 73-73 with three minutes left.
Jan Trojanowski of the Bears netted the next four points to re-open the gap and although Barry Bowman responded with a three-pointer to close the gap to
77-76, Brighton finished the game with the last four points to secure the surprise win.Charles Claxton and Jon Gaines notched 20 apiece for Bears who now trail fifth placed Leopards by just one victory in the standings.
