BBL Bullets ensure South lead entering 2000
Pertemps Bullets Birmingham will enter the New Year with a six point cushion at the head of the Southern Conference after defeating Thames Valley Tigers 84-76 at the NEC.
Thames Valley could not repeat their uni-ball Trophy victory of 24 hours previously on the same court and carry a losing record of 7-8 forward, despite remaining in second place in the table.
Bullets just edged it in the first quarter, as Shawn Jamison bagged 12 of
the 25 first quarter points for the Midlanders versus Tigers' 19.The visitors pulled back the deficit in the second and third quarters and actually led for much of the penultimate quarter. However, the game was sealed with six successive free throws from Bullets veteran skipper, Nigel Lloyd who ended on 22.
Bullets top scorer was Jamison who led all scoring with 31 points. Tigers' charge was spearheaded by Martin Gottfired who scored 19.
