Bullets gun down Eagles in OT
Pertemps Bullets Birmingham have made it three wins from three starts to the Dairylea Dunkers Championship but had to wait until one overtime period had passed before taking a 100-91 win over Newcastle Eagles.
Newcastle led by 49-63 in the third quarter before Bullets clawed their way back to level 87-87 at the end of regulation.
Bullets' Nigel Lloyd opened overtime with a three-pointer towards his final 23 points tally and Newcastle, with three players fouled out, never recovered despite Charles Smith's team best 20 points.
"We were in control and then we lost it down the stretch," admitted eagles All-Star Ralph Blalock. "Key players fouled out but we still had the chance to win it at the end."
However it was Bullets Shawn Jamison who led all scorers on 26.
