Diamond shines as Bullets drop fifth straight

Towers' veteran "Diamond" Danny Lewis played a starring role to help his side to a close-run 81-83 win at Pertemps Bullets Birmingham in the top of the Southern Conference clash, hitting 31 points including the game winning pair of free-throws in the final seconds

Towers opened the game with a 0-10 run, but the Bullets responded with a 15-1 tear to lead 15-11. The rest of the half remained close, and nothing could separate the two sides at half-time.

The third period saw an 0-11 spurt for the Towers as they went into a 38-49 win, but the Bullets responded in style with a 17-4 run that included five three pointers - two each from Nigel Lloyd and Justin Phoenix.

A gripping fourth quarter saw 10 lead changes, with the Bullets leading 79-78 with 40 seconds remaining. Lewis' three-pointer put the Towers 79-81 up, but two free-throws from Phoenix levelled it at 81-81 going into the final 20
seconds before Lewis worked his magic to condemn Mike Finger's men to their fifth reverse in a row.

Lloyd and Phoenix each ended on 23.
