BBL McCord snatches victory for Rocks in Brum
John McCord's score six seconds from the finish helped Edinburgh Rocks to move to within two points of third placed Derby Storm in the Northern Conference table with a dramatic 77-78 victory over Pertemps Bullets Birmingham at the NEC.
In a match in which each quarter ended with just one point separating the closely matched pair, it was the Scots who made the first move in the final period, hitting consecutive three pointers to move 64-69 ahead.
But the hosts responded with a 13-4 spurt to lead 77-73 with 1:10 left before Ted Berry hit a trey to close his team to within one point. Emiko Etete looked set to close off the Rocks recovery in the dying seconds but he regained possession for Bullets but his turnover led to a home foul and when the visitors inbounded the ball, McCord drove to the basket to take his team-tally to 23 and clinch the season series for his side.
Iain Maclean on 20 and Michael New on 19 further boosted Edinburgh, while Nigel Lloyd hit a game-high 26 for Bullets with Joel Burns adding 15 against his former team.
