Bears oust Bullets from Cup
Brighton Bears became the first side to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Sainsbury's Classic Cola National Cup, upsetting Pertemps Bullets Birmingham 80-91 at Aston Villa Leisure Centre.
Both teams were minus key players - Bears again without Jon Gaines and Bullets missing England international Yorick Williams who failed to recover from illness.
The visiting Bears led early on and rarely looked back, leading 35-41 at half time, and by the end the entire starting five for Brighton were in double figures for scoring.
Lormont Sharp led the way with a game-high 24 points for Brighton with Mike Brown notching 19. Shawn Jamison and Justin Phoenix netted 23 for the Bullets.
