Bears take second win in 48 hours

Sadly the end of the season has arrived too early for Brighton Bears. Two wins in 48 hours over Conference rivals have lifted the south coast side off the bottom of the Southern standings but still condemned to an early summer break. Yet the Bears'  85-87 success away to the Pertemps Bullets Birmingham at least clouded the race for second place.

30 points from the visitors in the first quarter and another 30-point haul in the final period was the key to the Bears' success over the Midlands side. They hit a 0-12 run early in the final quarter to lead 74-75 and swopped baskets after that.

Free throws from Bears' duo Michael Brown and Jan Trojanowski, as well as a missed three pointer from Bullets' Justin Phoenix, ultimately sealed the win in the visitor's favour, Bullets remaining in third spot despite a game-high 30 points from Nigel Lloyd.

Jon Gaines on 24 and Lormont Sharp with 22 led the Bears.
