Newcastle Eagles leapt to third place in the Northern Conference with a convincing 75-101 win at Derby on Saturday.

After a tense first quarter the Eagles took control holding the Storm offense to just 13 second quarter points while rattling off 35 in reply to take a comfortable 52-34 lead which they never relinquished.

Eagles' Shaun Myers led all scorers with a game-high 32 points.

The scheduled match between Birmingham and Edinburgh at Aston Villa did not start due to a waterlogged court. "I've heard of this in football but never in an indoor sport," remarked Rocks owner Ian Reid, whose side travelled to the Midlands before learning of the problem.
