Plymouth delight Wembley hordes
Plymouth Raiders went into the NBL Conference Play Off Final as League Champions and the Devon side delighted their huge travelling support with a double, emerging as 83-77 victors over Worthing Thunder at Wembley.
It was the Conferences' second placed Worthing which started strongest taking a 5- 0 lead. It was not until a Todd Cetnar opened his account with a three pointer that Plymouth began to play. Six points from Gaylon Moore in the six minute of the quarter opened out an eight point lead for the Thunder and the quarter closed 20 - 16 to Worthing.
Plymouth started the second quarter with seven back to back points to take the lead until Vandale Thomas put the Worthing back on track and they hung on for a one point lead going into the second half.
Gary Stronach's side that had the upper hand in the third quarter as Worthing conceded fouls on three point shots but the game was by no means over as the quarter closed 64 - 62 to the Raiders.
A dramatic fourth quarter saw eight of Plymouth's nineteen points made by their captain Cetnar and despite a further 6 points from Worthing's Vandale Thomas, it was Cetnar who closed out the game from the free throw line to lead Plymouth Raiders to a hard fought victory.
